Jamie

Jamie
A happy kid

Jamie's is taking a different route to many boys on his journey.

Jamie is a generally happy Australian boy who's life will be a very different journey to the majority of boys in his class. He was diagnosed with Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy when he was 4 years old.

This is a degenerative genetic disorder that slowly sees the muscles waste, usually limiting children to wheelchairs by their late primary school years, and eventually an early death. Currently there is very limited treatment (symptom management only) and no cure.

His family have had taken on this unexpected and unwanted challenge with courage, adaptability, endurance, compassion and even humour to manage life as it now is for them.

I am very proud of them, you see his mother is my sister. Jamie is my nephew and this is his story.

Coming soon

My sister has been writing a series of newsletters for family, friends, carers and others involved in Jamie's Journey in a wide variety of ways.

She writes beautifully and honestly. I will be uploading some of the editions here soon (as soon as I can work out the technology to share them effectively!)

Come back and visit soon :-)
